Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a guided fly fishing trip should be exciting—not confusing. Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often about our guided trips on the San Juan River near Navajo Dam. If you don’t find the information you’re looking for, we’re always happy to help. Feel free to contact us or send us a message, and we’ll be glad to answer your questions.

Is gratuity included in the price of a guided trip?

No. Gratuity is not included in the cost of your trip. While tipping is never required, it is customary to tip your guide if you feel they provided an exceptional experience. Most guests choose to tip 15–20% of the trip cost, but the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What is included with a guided fly fishing trip?

Our half-day and full-day guided trips include a professional fly fishing guide, transportation within 5 miles of where your trip begins, and all the fly fishing equipment you’ll need if you don’t have your own, including a rod, reel, and flies. We also provide water throughout your trip and welcome anglers of all experience levels.

Most of our guests book drift boat trips, so waders and boots aren’t needed. If you’re booking a walk-and-wade trip, you’ll need to bring your own waders and boots.

Is lunch included?

Lunch is included with all full-day guided trips. Half-day trips do not include lunch, but we recommend having a meal before your trip or bringing a snack if you’d like. We’ll provide water, and your guide will make sure you have everything you need for a great day on the river.

Is there an additional charge for transportation?

So long as you park within 5 miles of where we start fishing, transportation during your guided trip is included at no additional charge. If your trip ends at a different location than where you parked, we’ll shuttle you back to your original parking area.

Many guests coming from Farmington choose to meet us at Texas Hole, and we’re happy to meet you there. If you’re flying in or need transportation from farther away, let us know—we’re happy to discuss special arrangements whenever possible.
